5 Top Mala Spots in Singapore Reviewed & Ranked

Published Mar 6, 2026

Who doesn't love Mala? (Please don't raise your hand...) Because I love it and eat it so often, I had to make a list ranking what I've tried

5 spots

$12–$30

PGP Mala at NUS 🌶 ⭐ 10/10

This is my OG staple. The spice level is perfect for me. Most mala spots aren't spicy enough, but this spot's Da La (most spicy) is finally a challenge for me. What makes this place so good, is their beef which is extremely tender and soft. The price is slightly steeper but the quality of the ingredients are top notch.

La Bu La 🌶 ⭐ 9/10

Solid, consistent mala that's never let me down across multiple visits. The flavour profile is well-balanced with good aroma, though I do wish it could be slightly spicier... This is where I would go if I was craving for a good bowl of mala that i know wouldnt disappoint me.

ZhangLiang Mala 🌶 ⭐ 9/10

Another reliable option that delivers on flavour without drowning everything in oil. Like La Bu La, it isnt as spicy as i would like it to be, but the base flavour is solid enough that it doesn't really matter. Decent portion sizes and pretty accessible locations too.

Hot Hideout 🌶 ⭐ 9/10

(no nice images... 🥲 )

The malatang here lives up to the hype everyone's been giving it. Those crispy fried ingredients they add are actually a nice touch that sets it apart from the usual mala stores. The collagen broth is rich and so comforting. Only real downside is the price point as it definitely sits on the expensive side.

Ri Ri Hong 🌶 ⭐ 7/10

This spot is kind of a hit or miss. (Lau Pa Sat location btw). My first experience here was excellent with the perfect spice level and aromatic flavour that you want from good mala. But my recent visit was weirdly disappointing. The mala had this strange sweetness that felt completely off. Could've been a one time thing, so I'm planning to give it another shot soon.

Overall Thoughts

Mala is definitely a classic Singaporean favourite and I hope this list helps you choose your next Mala spot as well! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any spots to recommend for me to try out :)
