Broth and Beyond Review: $1 Broths at Singapore's Prettiest Hotpot Restaurant
Broth and Beyond
If you're looking for new hotpot spot in Singapore, Broth and Beyond at Chijmes is worth checking out! Located within Chijmes, it's pretty accessible as it's in town. They offer $1 broths and they also have a FREE FLOW snack and dessert bar, which makes the overall value pretty decent :)
What We Ordered
Meats and Vegetables 💰 varies · ⭐ 8/10💰 varies · ⭐ 8/10

We ordered lamb, beef, chicken and more! The Lamb Shoulder ($21.99) was incredibly fresh and had a delightful deep meaty flavour. The Yunnan Lemon Chicken Strips ($18.90) is a definite must try. The lemon flavour was soaked up perfectly by the chicken, even after dipping it into different broths. The Japanese Kurobuta Pork Collar ($26.99) had the perfect texture as well, tender and not tough at all. The Beef Balls ($9.99) were also super meaty and delicious.
Free Flow Snack & Dessert Bar 💰 $4.99 · ⭐ 8/10💰 $4.99 · ⭐ 8/10
Before we start, I just have to show you that they have the CUTEST marshmallow panda that makes your dessert bowl so aesthetic! (Note: you only get 1 panda marshmallow per pax)
OK moving on... Similar to HDL, you pay an upfront fee before getting access to their free flow condiments, sides and dessert bar.
They serve desserts like cold beancurd and grass jelly with a wide variety of toppings like red bean, pearls and more
The bar also served Home Made kimchi that was super flavourful and fermented well. I kept going back for more... :p
Macaron Mushroom Series 💰 $29.99 · ⭐ 8/10💰 $29.99 · ⭐ 8/10

They specialise in mushrooms, as this hotpot place is heavily influenced by Yunnan culture. Every mushroom piece was so unique and had their own signature flavour. Very unique and interesting to try!
Wagyu Prata 💰 $17.99 · ⭐ 7/10💰 $17.99 · ⭐ 7/10

Super buttery, crispy, and meaty. It's definitely a creative combination that works surprisingly well. The wagyu was tender and the prata had a nice crisp to it. A bit indulgent but fun to try.
Braised Rice with Porcini Mushroom 💰 $19.90 · ⭐ 9/10💰 $19.90 · ⭐ 9/10

This was incredibly flavourful with a deep umami taste that was really fragrant. It had a unique savoury taste that lingered after each bite. Definitely a must try as well if you visit.
Traditional Dai Corn Cake with Mochi 💰 $6.90 · ⭐ 7/10💰 $6.90 · ⭐ 7/10
This had a fluffy, chewy texture and we could even get a mochi pull from it. Pretty interesting texture-wise.
Pro tip: grab some condensed milk from the self-serve bar and dip the cake in it. Makes it so much tastier and sweet!
P.S. $1 Broths are for their 1 year anniversary special, and is only valid till end of March! So do hurry down to try out before this promotion ends :)
Overall Thoughts
This place is definitely one of the prettier hotpot spots I've been to! What's so special is that all their broths are simmered for 8 hours with no preservatives. Furthermore the meat quality is solid, and they have plenty of vegetarian friendly options too.
Would I return? Yes! So that i can concoct more jelly dessert bowls 🤣
